Before you even start discovering Tropical North Queensland’s spectacular beaches, reefs and rainforests, there’s a wealth of free, family friendly activities right at your front door when you stay at a Cairns Aquarius waterfront apartment. Just cross the road from your apartment and you’re in the heart of the Cairns Esplanade.
Lagoon
Opening hours:
Thursday to Tuesday, 6am-9pm
Wednesday, midday-9pm (closed for maintenance until midday)
Public holidays, 6am-9pm
Volleyball
Opening hours:
Thursday to Tuesday (9am to 9.30pm)
Wednesday closed until 4pm then open until 9.30pm, and Public holidays (9am to 9.30pm)
Fitness Equipment
Fitness station equipment at the Northern Esplanade is selected to allow low-impact cardio style exercise that facilitates strength and mobility.
Bouldering
Suitable for all ages, the Bouldering Park is located near the beach volleyball courts (near Cairns Hospital). Free introductory Bouldering classes are on offer as part of the Active Living Program.
Skating
Providing exciting recreational opportunities, the facility has been called ‘one of the seven wonders of the skate park world’ due to its innovative design and contextual aesthetics.
Petanque
The Petanque Court is located in the Esplanade parklands near the McKenzie Street intersection.
Please bring your own Petanque equipment.
Fitness Classes
The classes provide an introduction to the sport and are suitable for all levels of fitness. The classes are run at numerous picturesque locations along the Esplanade. From Aqua Aerobics to Zumba Fitness, there is something for everyone to try.
